DOING THE GOOD WORK

Using the sweet things in life to affect change can really only happen by supporting the organizations that already doing incredible work. These are a few of the charities that I love and will be supporting in 2021 during my Perpetual Bake Sale experiment. I’ll be featuring one of these organizations each month with the hope of raising at least $100 through my bakes. Let’s see how much good we can do together!

BAKING RESOURCES

I won’t pretend that I got to where I am without inspiration and direction by real masters of baking. Here are a few amazing resources that I use on a regular basis to help fuel my own creations:

  • Susan G. Purdy’s book, Pie In the Sky, was my life line when I was learning how to bake in the mile-high city of Denver. Though I’m back to sea level, her recipes are so nearly fool-proof, I’m making a goal of baking every single recipe in her book in 2021: High Altitude Baking
  • Dori Greenspan’s book, Baking, was the first real baking book I personally owned and it launched me into my baking hobby in my newlywed years. She not only is she a brilliant baker and chef, but she tells a story with every recipe and gives excellent directions to help build your confidence, even if you are new to the kitchen: www.dorigreenspan.com
  • Elizabeth LaBau is witty, fun, and her recipes are no joke delicious. She has tons of helpful video tutorials, tricks, and shortcuts to make even novice bakers feel fancy and successful: Check her out at Sugar Hero
  • Yolanda Gampp is a true cake master and she also happens to be hilarious. Check out her weekly videos as she transforms fondant into unbelievable creations, – if you have kids, they won’t be able to get enough of Yolanda: How To Cake It
